Time tracking module
Digital time tracking, compliant, no paper register
Record worked hours exactly as the Romanian Labour Code requires — with start and end time for every employee. Choose the clock-in method that fits your team and keep the data ready for any inspection.
What the law requires
The Romanian Labour Code requires employers to keep a daily record of the hours worked by each employee, showing the start and end of the working schedule, and to make it available to labour inspectors on request. Workly covers exactly this obligation — automatically.
A clock-in method for every kind of team
Manual grid
Fill in or correct hours in an editable weekly grid — simple for small teams or one-off adjustments.
- Quick editing per day and per employee
- Ideal for offices and small teams
- History of changes
Punch In/Out
Employees clock in and out with one tap, in real time, from the phone app or the station.
- Real-time clock-in
- Breaks and resumes tracked
- Works on mobile (PWA)
Rotating QR kiosk + NFC card
A physical station at the entrance: a QR code that changes periodically or an NFC card. Phone or card — hard to fool, no “buddy punching”.
- QR code that changes periodically
- NFC card for phone-free clock-in
- One station for the whole team
Network rules and location marking
You can restrict clock-in to the office network: an attempt from outside the allowed addresses is rejected, with a clear message for the employee. Optionally, the record also notes whether the person was inside the defined zone — as information to check later, without blocking someone with a weak GPS signal.
- Clock-in allowed only from the company network
- GPS zone recorded for review, not blocking
- On-device confirmation before clock-in (optional)
Collective clock-in
A designated operator clocks in the whole team from one place — useful for production, construction sites or large shifts.
- One operator clocks in the team
- Dedicated View-Only role
- Fast for large teams
Shifts, overnight and time-off in lieu
Configure shifts, night schedules, part-time, breaks and an hours bank — time tracking adapts to how your company actually works.
- Shifts and overnight schedules
- Part-time and remote work
- Overtime and time-off in lieu
It fills itself in, as far as it can
Empty days can be filled automatically from the weekly schedule, and the previous week can submit and approve itself on Sunday evening. What's left to check is only what falls outside the pattern.
- Automatic fill from the weekly schedule
- Automatic weekly submission and approval
- Each automation can be switched off separately
Signals before they become problems
Set the hours threshold above which a day gets an overtime warning, and how many consecutive months of a negative hours balance trigger a flag. You also see who is at work right now.
- Configurable overtime threshold
- Warning on a negative hours balance, over consecutive months
- Real-time attendance view
Part-time norms and contractors
Norms of 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours come with the correct break for each, as the Romanian Labour Code requires — not one single break applied to everyone. And contractors on a monthly hours target are not required to track time daily.
- The break that matches each norm
- Contractors tracked against a monthly hours target
- Enabled only if you need it
Paper register vs. Workly
Classic time tracking (paper / Excel)
- Registers or Excel filled in by hand, easy to get wrong or backfill
- No exact record of start and end time as required by law
- Overtime, shifts and time-off calculated manually
- At a labour inspection, data has to be gathered from several places
Time tracking with Workly
- Digital record with start and end time for every employee
- Compliant with the Labour Code obligation, ready to present at an inspection
- Overtime, shifts and time-off in lieu tracked automatically
- Reports exportable to PDF or XLSX, anytime
Frequently asked questions about time tracking
Can I use several clock-in methods in the same company?
Each company picks one main clock-in method so the data stays consistent. On top of it you can add network restrictions, and the record can also note whether the person was inside the defined zone, as information to review later.
How does the Kiosk station with QR and NFC work?
The Kiosk is a physical station at the entrance. The employee scans a QR code that changes periodically (so it can’t be photographed and reused) or taps an NFC card. A personal phone isn’t strictly required.
Does time tracking meet the Labour Code requirements?
Yes. Workly records the start and end of the working schedule for each employee and keeps the record exportable, exactly as the law requires at a Labour Inspection check.
Does time-tracking data flow automatically into payroll?
Yes. Worked hours, shifts and overtime flow directly into the payroll module, with no manual re-entry.
