How overtime is paid in 2026

Overtime is the hours worked beyond the normal working schedule. Under the Labour Code (art. 121–123), it is usually compensated with paid time off, and if that is not possible, it is paid with a premium of at least 75% of the base salary, applied to the hours actually worked.

Premiums set by law

The minimum overtime premium is 75%. Night work is paid with a premium of at least 25% (art. 126). Work on public holidays, when no compensatory days off are granted, is paid with a 100% premium (art. 142).

The weekend premium

The premium for weekend work is not fixed by law — it is set by the collective or individual employment contract. That is why, in the calculator, the premium is a parameter you can configure according to company policy.
